Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to cancel and buy a new policy if I need to replace my FDW after purchase?

Yes, the policy will need to be cancelled, and a replacement policy issued.

Why is the policy not exactly 12 or 24 months?

The coverage period for our Enhanced MaidAssure is 14 months or 26 months with the additional 2 months included as mandated by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in case the FDW overstays in Singapore after her work permit expires.

What information is required to open a POEMS account?

The Policyholder must consent to the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act 2012), and their name and NRIC must match the records in their POEMS account. Any additional information required will be requested by POEMS.

What is a Non-Motor Excess Protector insurance?

ECICS Non-Motor Excess Protector Insurance reimburses the excess amount you are required to pay under your non-motor insurance policy when you make a claim. This includes, but is not limited to, policies such as Fire, Public Liability, and Contractors All Risks insurance.

What if I change my mind?

We get it – plans can change. If you are replacing your FDW after purchasing the policy:a. Prior to policy effective date, you may provide us with the new FDW details. We will make the necessary changes on the policy replacement. The promo can be re-applied to the replacement policy but please note that the promo can only be re-applied on a replacement policy once if the original policy has not started. b. If the policy has started and you need to replace your FDW, you have 90 days from policy effective date to cancel and a further 90 days to issue a replacement policy. You will get 100% refund for the original policy but unfortunately, the promo cannot be re-applied to the replacement policy. If you no longer require an FDW, you may get a 100% refund if you cancel before the policy incepts. Please take note that all cancellation date shall be based on the security bond discharge date from MOM and not the work permit cancellation date.

I recently cancelled my FDW work permit, how do I cancel the policy?

MOM will issue the discharge letter 1 week after the FDW has left Singapore. Please provide us with a copy of the discharge letter to proceed with your cancellation. Please note that the effective date of insurance cancellation will be determined based on the discharge date from MOM, not the date when the work permit is cancelled.

What are the payment methods available?

We accept payment via Visa/Master Retail Debit or Credit Card online.

Do I still need to pay $5,000 to MOM when I’ve already purchased the Security Bond?

No, you do not need to pay $5,000 upfront to MOM as we act as a guarantor by issuing a Letter of Guarantee to MOM on your behalf. However, if you or your FDW breaches any of MOM’s rules or conditions, MOM may forfeit the bond and demand for payment from ECICS. In such cases, we will seek recovery of the amount from you.

Is my FDW covered while she is on home leave?

No, she is not covered unless she is travelling with you. We recommend purchasing a separate travel insurance for your FDW as the coverage would be more comprehensive for overseas situations where medical and evacuation costs are expected to be much higher.

How do I determine the effective date of the policy?

Here's how you can determine the effective date based on each situation:For New FDW:The policy's effective date should be the date your FDW arrives in Singapore. This ensures that insurance coverage begins when the FDW starts her employment duties upon arrival in the country. For Transferred FDW:The policy's effective date should be the day you wish to apply for the issuance of her work permit at MOM. This ensures that insurance coverage is in place when the FDW's work permit is processed and approved for transfer to your employment. For Renewal FDW:The policy's effective date should be one day after the current work permit's expiry date. This ensures that insurance coverage seamlessly continues without any gaps when renewing the FDW's work permit for continued employment.

For example, if you have accumulated a 30% NCD while using one vehicle, it does not follow that the same NCD applies to any other vehicle that you own or decide to buy. In other words, you will have to earn the NCD for each vehicle separately Your NCD cannot- - be transferred to another person, except for your spouse and within the current insurer only.
