As an employer, is there a way to limit my liability on the $5,000 Security Bond?

Yes, you can. We offer Waiver of Counter Indemnity as an optional add-on. With this, your liability on the $5,000 Security Bond is capped at $250, and the insurer covers the rest if the bond conditions are breached. However, this does not apply to any breach of bond conditions due to your negligence or fault.

What is Contractors' All Risks insurance?

Contractors' All Risks insurance is designed to protect construction and renovation projects. It covers both property damage and third-party liability during the contract period.

If a named driver comes out to purchase an entirely new policy with ECICS utilising his earned Family-NCD, can he continue to be named driver in the Family NCD policy and continue earning Family-NCD?

In the event that he utilise his earned Family-NCD to buy a new policy with us, he can still remain in the Family NCD policy as a named driver but he will not earn another Family-NCD. The Family-NCD can only be used once per policy per named driver.

Do I need to align the period of insurance for ECICS Motor Excess Protector Insurance policy with my motor insurance policy?

No, you can purchase ECICS Motor Excess Protector Insurance Policy any time. However, do note that there is a 14-day waiting period from the commencement date of policy. Coverage will only start after the 14-day waiting period.

Do I need to name all my employees in my Commercial Vehicle insurance policy?

No, ECICS Commercial Vehicle insurance policy is on authorised drivers basis. It covers any person who is driving on your order or with your permission, provided it is in relation to your business and the person driving is permitted to drive in accordance with the licensing or other laws or regulations to drive the vehicle.

Do I need to cancel and buy a new policy if I need to replace my FDW after purchase?

Yes, the policy will need to be cancelled, and a replacement policy issued.

I recently cancelled my FDW work permit, how do I cancel the policy?

MOM will issue the discharge letter 1 week after the FDW has left Singapore. Please provide us with a copy of the discharge letter to proceed with your cancellation.Please note that the effective date of insurance cancellation will be determined based on the discharge date from MOM, not the date when the work permit is cancelled.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?

It is only covered under Hospital & Surgical Expenses if the FDW had been under your employment for more than 12 months.

Can I buy Waiver of Counter Indemnity after my policy has incepted?

No, you are not able to purchase the Waiver of Counter Indemnity after policy has incepted.

My FDW’s age is 61 years old, can I still renew her policy?

The eligibility criteria states that the insured FDW must be between 23 and 60 years old at the time of application. This means that individuals outside of this age range may not qualify for coverage under the insurance policy.

Do I need Motorcycle insurance in Singapore?

Yes, it is illegal to use a vehicle in Singapore without a valid insurance cover. At a minimum, you must have third-party insurance, which covers injury or damage caused to other people and their property.

If I include a named driver in my private car policy, will my overall premium increase?

The premium of your car insurance policy is calculated based on the profiles of all the declared drivers including the named driver(s). Depending on the risk profiles of the drivers, the premium may remain the same, increase or decrease.

Who must be present and what documents are required for the accident reporting?

The driver involved in the accident must report personally, with a copy of the Driving License and NRIC, and the certificate of insurance to the Accident Reporting Centres. The vehicle must also be made available for photo-taking at the time of reporting.

When can I renew my road tax?

ECICS will be transmitting the details of your Private Car Policy to LTA upon successful enrolment within 3 business days. Please contact our mainline if you require support to urgently submit to LTA for online road tax renewals. Alternative, you can proceed to LTA office with the Certificate of Insurance to physically renewal your road tax at LTA office. Our mainline number is +65 6206 5588 (Mon - Fri excluding Public Holiday, 8:30am - 6:00pm).

If I sell my private car, will I get any refund?

If you sell your private car, you may inform us to cancel your policy. You can submit the request at customerservice@ecics.com.sg or call our mainline at +65 6206 5588 (Mon - Fri excluding Public Holiday, 8:30am - 6:00pm). Your Private Car policy refund is calculated according to the cancellation clause in your policy wording subject to no claims made against your policy.

Do I still need to make an accident report even if there are no damages to my vehicle or a private settlement had been reached between parties involved?

Under the Motor Claims Framework (MCF), in any accident regardless how minor it was, it is a requirement that an accident report be lodged in any of our Approved Reporting Centres within 24 hours or by the next working day. Your insurer will do the necessary and review the matter upon receiving the signed Private Settlement form.
